![]() Might want to look for that and give it a whirl. ![]() There was a thread here on the forums about running Minecraft with Sakaki's 64-bit Gentoo build. There are some 64-bit operating systems for the Pi4 now, including a beta of Raspberry Pi OS, but I believe that doesn't have GPU support yet (not sure if others do either). I mean, sure you can do it, with severe restrictions, and even then it doesn't run great. In general I have found that the Pi is not very good as a client for playing Minecraft (although it can make a pretty good server). How much, and how efficiently it uses that is something I don't know. In order for a process to use more than that you'd need a 64-bit OS.įor Minecraft Java Edition with 32-bit Raspbian you are limited to allocating 3GB to the Java heap, but the game itself and Java can use other memory outside of that. Using the stock Raspbian/Raspberry Pi OS Buster 32-bit limits any individual process to 3GB, but all 8GB can be used by multiple processes. If you need to find out how much RAM your computer has you can follow the guides on this page for Windows or Mac.Is there a some additional configuration steps / changes to force MC to use more memory (full 8GB)? Note: Java 8 and over no longer has PermGen at all.if you assign 2GB of RAM to MC and 256MB of PermGen that equals 2.25GB of RAM total. If you've assigned PermGen this is added on-top of the RAM you assign to Minecraft.if Minecraft will run fine with 3GB of RAM don't allocate 6GB just because you can. You shouldn't assign more RAM than Minecraft actually needs to run smoothly.Typically the max will be 512MB to 1024MB less than your system's capacity. When I launch minecraft through curse forge it tells me I can only play in.When selecting your maximum RAM to give to Minecraft it can only be the max of what your system can handle AFTER taking in to account how much memory your Operating System requires. You need to have a 64bit OS and 64bit Java to use more than 2GB of RAM.There are a few things to keep in mind before you start:
